The king of “dad jokes”, spoiler of grandchildren, avid pickle baller, crazy beekeeper, wood craft creator, and often times the life of the party, Bob keeps very active.
Bob has finally retired – he was not “allowed” to retire until he found a hobby, “something to keep you busy”, she said. Now he is busier than he was pre-retirement.
Owning his own commercial contracting business for many years Bob knows how to get things done. He loved what he did, however, the pandemic, assisted in the push into retirement and at 69, the timing was perfect.
7 years ago, Deborah asked him to go to the beekeeping class with her, he did, and he was hooked. Now with 25 hives, he is always spending time with his honey. Spinning honey and melting wax are only keeping him busy part of the year.
So in addition to the busy-ness with the bees, Bob has also re-discovered his love for his art/skill of wood crafting. He is now able to combine the two hobbies by using the wax from the hives to make the best natural board butter for his wood crafts.
Bob creates the most beautiful hand-crafted wood items from charcuterie and cutting boards to plant stands and kids puzzles. Justifiably so, he takes pride in his heirloom quality craft. He will spend time choosing just the right wood for the craft at hand and he tends to every detail in the products he creates.
